A Contest For Crafty People! Winners post 15!

Why I should win:

When you look at that strip of fabric, you can picture the end result. You will have a nice picture in your mind of this adorable little stuffed turkey and pumpkin.
The person who gets it will spend time smiling, anticipating the end result. A little cut on the dotted line, some old fashioned needle-and-thread sewing, and they will sit proudly back and admire their hand-crafted autumn decor.

I should win because life just isn't like that.

I have never been artistic or crafty in any way. I have pictures that I drew in my early years where if my mother did not write on the back what they were supposed to be- you'd never guess. In fact, the horse I drew looked more like a rotten wrinkled oversized apple. I am sure it was very difficult for my mother to keep a straight and honest looking face as she lied through her teeth telling me it was beautiful.
Now, I was smart enough to know you don't eat glue ( except that one time I tasted it- back in the 60's glue has a pretty interesting taste). I preferred the taste of play-doh.
I knew enough to not run with scissors. As for cutting with them- you could give me scissors and make me cut on a straight line, and I could manage to cut a circle.

I didnt nibble on crayons ( although once I did bite into an ink pen, which exploded into my mouth- but thats a whole other story). But ask me to color in the lines, and I was like a shaky alcoholic who neeed a drink- and a blind one at that.
The macaroni cards we used to make for mothers day- my macaroni flowers looked like a pile of regurgitated pasta. My popsicle stick log cabin looked like a dollhouse bonfire pile.

In 8th grade, we had a " Home Ec" class.. remember when that was mandatory for the girls? Following recipes exactly, I made some chunks of things-that were-supposed-to-be-edible. Then it was time to sew. For some reason, they encouraged me to use a sewing machine. After the 5th needle broke, they encouraged me to finish my project at home.
I was smart enough to choose a sundress as my project. How hard could that be? No sleeves, and in 8th grade ( well, this woud have applied all the way until I had my kid) nice and flat in the front.
It was identifyable as a sundress in the end... although it only would have fit someone who was short and fat on the left side, and tall and thin on the right.

Sad to say, as I got older, it did not get better. My scissor skills have not improved. I have tried sewing, and have sewed numberous items to my shirt , pants, fingers and legs.
When I decided ot build a chicken coop, I thought that maybe I should make it a crooked house, like a kids funhouse. I figured one of 2 things could happen- either it would be so crooked it woud be condemned, or by tryingto cut crooked, it would end up straight.

So, for all this, I think I should win. Why, you ask? I'll tell you! One of two things will happen. I might just get the required craft skill needed. This could be the break I need for a new, straight-cutting, craftier me. I could end up with a pretty turkey and pumpkin that I can show off to all my family and freinds and proudly exclaim that I did it all by myself.
Or, because life just isn't like that, I could make them, and have another contest where I ask people " What is this?". At the very least, I can tell the story of how that brown blob, and orange blob were supposed to be a pumpkin and a turkey. I'm sure I will have holes in my fingers, a new piercing, a stuffing filled living room, a stuffing filled dog, and parrots who will learn naughty words. The end result will be a turkey with it's wattles on its knees, and a parallelogram shaped pumpkin.

Or perhaps I'll cut the pieces so horribly crooked, I'll have to combine the 2, and have a jack-o-turkey!!

If I won, I would use the turkey as a decoy to convince the wild turkeys that keep passing through our yard that it has enough food for them to live in it.(And it does because pheasants live here and I have a ground birdfeeder.)
