I have and have read the book "Genetics of Chicken Colours" by Sigrid Van Dort and David Hancox. Wonderful book. However, right now it's all like a brand new language bouncing around in my head. Trying to use it practically is SLOW and painful. I am hoping to strike up a conversation with breeders out there who are fluent in the use of gene terminology - fluent but who don't mind slowing it down a bit and enduring lots of ignorant questions. I'm not exactly sure how to start this thread, but was thinking it might work if someone has a favorite project bird going that they wouldn't mind dissecting genetically and describing in great detail plus photos, photos, photos. Something like that? Or any better idea is welcome!

I am sooo with you. I am very interested in the genetics of a variety of traits I will be breeding for in the near future. Genetics was a minor of mine in school back when the dinosaurs roamed. I have been looking for a book that maps the alleles responsible for egg color just for starts.
THANK YOU FOR THE ATTEMPT !!!
