I am designing a coop I pretty much have all of it done but have a couple questions about measurements-

How big should the chickens door into the run be ?- I have Barred rocks, Buffs, and RIR.

How big should the nest boxes be? same breeds,

How much ventilation will I need- the coop will be 4x6, the front wall will be 4 foot tall, the back wall will be 3 foot tall. There will be a chicken door for them to get into the run/yard, and 2x2 screen window (which will be shut up for bad weather). Possibly another 2x2 window. I am worried about rain/snow being able to enter the coop through ventilation holes. We had a very bad winter and looks like the next couple years will be just as bad/worse.

Also how many gals would this coop hold ? They will either free range or have a very large pen/yard.

Thank you :)

the door into their run (or the Pop Door) doesn't have to be big at all. mine is about 10''x10''

I made mine about 1'x1'x'1'. they were large enough, though im going to make new and improved ones and ill probably make them a little bigger

a screen window will provide plenty of ventilation. I doubt u will need another if its ventilation you're worried about.

my coop is 3x5x5 and I am able to fit about 8 comfortably

My pop door is 12x14 just worked out that size, nestboxs are 14 x 14, the more windows the better ventilation, for my vents I hinged them from the top so I can regulate how much air comes in with a small piece of chain, with it hinged at the top water can't come in but still lets fresh air in, a 4x6 coop will hold 6 chickens if you follow the square footage rule.
