A couple of winter questions

Angie, Everybody is right on in their answers. As far as cleaning waterers I use a cheap soft bristle toilet bowl brush. I just dump it out, ass some clean water and brush it around and dump it. Then I fill with clean water.

And Andy...It's best to start your own question thread instead of adding to another. You'll be guaranteed answers that way.

As far as light goes I prefer to have a timer set to come on in the morning and let them go to bed with the waning daylight. I hate to just turn a light out before they are ready and roosted.

Forgot to mention I also use the deep litter method from December to March ...I found when I had too much moisture in the coop the walls /windows were frosted and when the coop warmed up in the afternoon the frost would melt making the shavings more wet ....
I normally leave the little pop door open 24/7 as they have a secure yard ....I hope ! ...lol.....
If you look up patandchickens on this site she has an excellent ventalation page which is a good read ....Good luck ! Stay warm !
