A creepy snack

Soo occasionally my girls will gobble up cockroaches. I'm sure they are great protein, but once they eat them do they die automatically?? I'm always afraid they are just chillin in their crop, alive. Do cockroaches carry disease that I need to be conserned about??

I have a lot of mealworm beetles in my barn, along with lots of other insects, and I don't think they cause any problems with disease or in the crop.
