A Dark Cornish Story

Nice birds, i ordered some this year and not so good. Then i got some white cornish bantams from my feed store(privett hatchery) and they are great little birds. Woot for the Cornish :)

I have interest to purchase a quality show Cornish. Please send me information. Thanks

I love all these Cornish fans! I picked up a pair of Spangled Cornish Bantams at a local flea market last August (mostly because I felt sorry for them in their little cage) The hen had hardly any feathers on her back and the feathers on one wing had been clipped short. Spent the rest of the fall/winter getting some weight and feathers on them, now Ricky and Lucy (hubby said they needed names) are beautiful! She lays pretty good and I have just hatched out 2 chicks and have 7 more eggs in the incubator to hatch later this month. Here's a pic of what they looked like when I got them. Will post new pics soon. Funny thing - when the hens feathers filled back out - she was more white than brown while the rooster seemed to get darker. Can't wait to see how these chicks will look once they start getting their feathers.

have enjoyed this thread. I have 10 dark cornish chicks from mypetchicken. planning to use as meat birds. would like to know if original poster has happy with them butchered.

Our first flock was dark Cornish. The meat is quite firm, not tender like a broiler chicken. We just made coq au vin after the first dinner.
