Good grief, don't apologize. it was a good post.
I just have this thing about the promoted idea that chickens are just so much fun, when it's quite apparent from reading these forums that quite often not only are the chickens not having much fun, but neither are those who keep them.
You carry on. One of the best posts on the subject imo.

Went outside to give the girls some goodies and saw what appeared to be 2 hawks flying above and one landing in an oak tree. All in my flock were very still listening and Harriet was making a growling sound just as she did last week. I believe it is a warning call. Below is the video I just took and you can hear the red-Shoulder Hawk in the background.

Hens do give predator warning calls. I've read some say that's nonsense. But, if you've ever seen a hen out with her chicks you'll know they do.
