I been married to the same woman for almost 40 years. "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" Burn those word into your brain, then do what I do. Words to live by for a man, "It's easier to get forgiveness then it is to get permission!"

I haven't been married near that long but we live by those ideas here! she forgives much better than she gives permission

I also live in Lancaster, CA and have been toying with the idea of getting chickens. My husbad on the other hand does not like the idea, I grew up on a farm, and he grew up in the city....still working on him. For those of you from Lancaster,CA, is it lawful to own chickens in Lancaster?

Greetings all,
Just registered this evening...
Starting to do reseach on chickens, coops, ect.
I saw a coop that is really cool and it is local! (Wichita, Ks.)
I emailed the owner hoping to get a look at it and maybe build one like it.
I barely know one end of a chicken from the other so I have a lot to learn.
We are not going to show them, we are just hoping for some eggs.
Anyway, hello to all...this should be fun!

Welcome to BYC! I started with chickens over the summer and the people of BYC were great. Feel free to visit my BYC Page for links to my blog that you may find informative or amusing.

This whole downshifting/homesteading thing is getting more popular by the day. Even film stars are into chickens.
