A few important things I need to know about my ducks.

Hello! Congrats on your new ducklings and I support you saving the smallest one and the mate! Plus I am a huge fan of runners! I see you got lots of great answers to all your questions. I’ll just add in, I use apple cider vinegar once every 3 months and mix it into her drinking water to worm her. I do it as a just in case! 4 tablespoons to a gallon of water, but don’t use metal because ACV is a light form of acid so it can release (I think) ?zinc? into the water if dosed too high or release metal toxins if in metal. It works great for all pets and people too!!!

As luck would have it I have a plastic drinker and a big bottle of ACV. The ducks get closed in their shed overnight so they will drink that water and not from the pool!

As far as the basil goes I thought this would be easy to find but it wasn't. I did find this site that said it's ok for chickens so I would imagine ducks too! You can put in in their nests too. Good article.

I don't think we're supposed to give spinach to ducks. Something about it affects their calcium levels. Maybe just a little bit but not regularly or a lot.

I think they get more benefit out of green peas or green beans. At least they like them almost as much as duck crack.

I just want to say thank you for this thread... one of my ducks suddenly started having runny/sticky, dark brown, horrible smelling poop this morning and I was getting very concerned. Reading this I remembered my husband giving them a huge double-handful of mealworms last night! Whew. Going to have to give those in more moderation from now on!
