A few NEW pics of our work in progress........

You actually inspred me to do a roof that was doomed on my run. I love how you did it, and it looked really nice. After lotsa tries, my run was too wide and I had to regroup and do it the way I did. But I actually had pics of your deal in hand as I was building. Thanks for the help,LOL.... All the best. R

I am going to start to covert a large shed to my main coop and then fence in half of my backyard for their run. I love how you did your run. and nonsense to your neighbors, it is good to be safe than to half way do it and then be wiped out. I think the run is fantastic and I am still going to keep some of my not so aggressive chickens in the runs so that way they won't be picked on and then there is a place for my babies to go and be safe also. I want to do my roof of my run like yours. I love it, now to only talk my husband into doing it.

Thanks for you comments. We are pleased with the way it has worked out. I had introduced new chickens to my original 6 R.R.'s, and it was a tough go for them to bond. I added 2 more sets, and I just kept the newbies in cages with the originals for 2-3 days and hey sniffed em before I let them meet. When all released they had to get thier pecking order, but after a couple of weeks they are finally getting along, and going into the coop at nite together. I was going out at nite just after dark, and putting the 5 newbies IN the coop to boind. Last nite for the first time I went out and they were all in there happily. All the best. R

You cheated using that auger, and heavy equipment. LOL.

VERY NICE!! Good job, I was impressed..

I agree... your coop and run are awesome!! You did an amazing job. I can tell you put a lot of thought into it.... Love the windows you put in the coop.

Thanks Dude! You know the tractor is available when you are ready to expand right?.LOL I am glad I had it, when I put the roost poles in, inside the run I did it with the manual diggers cause I couldn't get the little tractor in the run,LOL. I would still be diggin if I didn't use the auger. That clay is HARD man.

Thanks a bunch. We loved building it. And of course it will never be "done",LOL I still need to put 2 more bigger windows on each side for east-west cross vent. Then I think I will be done for a while. Every time I start to put them in during the day, my hens are laying, and get mad with me. When I put the end ones in, I closed the pop door and they showed me, they layed in the run,LOL. Without this forum and wonderfull folks, we would not have had a clue. Love this place. All the best. Don't know how hot it gets there, but the first thing I see is a dark colored roof. Bigger gable vents (along with your intended windows) would be the cheapest cure. There is lots of complaining on BYC about MORE VENTILATION !!

the other thing I see is your wire, i really like that wire. what kinda wire is that?? Looks smaller than "Hog Wire". ? Sure wish I had that much space. good job!!
