A few pictures from the other day

I'm a professional photographer, and I have to say - I love your photos. I love the way you capture all the angles and lines! I love scenery and love photographing it. and you captured it wonderfully. so many of those photos are ones that if I had taken, I'd have made into 18x24's and framed. stunning.

Thanks!

Over the summer I bought my first SLR so I've been trying to take it out as often as I can. There's just so much to learn! I would love to get into into photography as more than just a hobby, but with college right now, it's a bit difficult. I do help my uncle sometimes with photo shoots which has been an awesome experience. He asked me to assist with another one in two weeks. Usually I'm more of a nature/animal photography person, but its fun to learn how to do portraits as well. I have been doing photography for awhile though, but the SLR has really opened up some new doors for me!

That is definitely how I started. I posted a couple ads on craigslist for free photoshoots.. and took advantage of my friends families, and my inlaws little toddlers/babies and really learned how to capture movement, kids, families and 'in the moment' candid shots! Animals can't give feedback and nature has just so much to capture! Those are definitely my favourite things to shoot too!

Thanks for the awesome compliments, Kerriliane! Always great to hear nice things about my photos from a professional!

I need to start putting together a portfolio. I think that may be my goal for the winter. I had an elementary school teacher of mine contact me about taking pictures of her kids and she even said she'll pay me for it! I'm definitely looking forward to that, though I'll definitely do it for practice and rather than just for the money! I also offered my services to these two ladies who do professional body painting and henna tattoo art. They gave me their cards and said any time I'd like to do a photo shoot they would be more than willing to paint someone up for me so that I could practice. I figure that is a win/win situation! They get pictures for their business and I get pictures for my portfolio!

I would LOVE to do this as a full time job, but I know photography is not an easy field to do well in without contacts and really, really good pictures! I'm always looking for contests and classes that I can do. I would also like to get a booth at a craft show to sell some of my photos at. I figure even if I sell them very cheap, I would be getting the word out about my photography in a fairly easy way!
