I know this is an old thread, but if you guys still answer as amazingly as you did on here, I really need your help! idk if you can some how See the threads i've posted ( i'm new. like. been on here for less then an hour ) but seriously, i'm Desperate! i LOVE goats, want some really bad, my dad will only let us get them if we milk them. whtch brings a problem, we want 1 doe and 1 buck. Does a separator work with the Smell? if we put a separator between them, will the milk still be "goaty"? and, Does "goaty" taste Bad??????????? please help! I want to have goats for a long time before i go to college and have to leave them at my house with my family while i'm at college

! The thing with bucks is that they smell anytime they're in rut, and it doesn't matter if a doe is in the pen with them or a doe isn't, they just smell. :/ And they smell awful!
I've been around quite a few. To avoid getting a buck, unless you really want one, I would get an already pregnant doe or a doe that is still lactating from when she had kids. I've only had goats milk once (that was enough for me to decide I didn't like it
), but I thought it had a "goaty" taste. I asked other people what they thought of it and we all came to the conclusion that it tastes like how a goat smells (it doesn't taste like how a buck smells, every goat has a generic smell to them, and it's the generic smell that that milk tastes like). I don't think a separator would work, just because that's how all goats milk tastes, but maybe someone who knows more about milk, knows something I don't.
