Hey all! I have a few questions as I’m new to hatching. My eggs appear to be around day 15. When do I stop candling and turning them? Does it matter if I’m a day or two off? The shells are dark and kind of hard to see through so I’m struggling to get a precise read.

I am going to assume they are chicken eggs (If not, please correct me). Stop candeling and turning them at day 18. It must be day 18, being a day or two off could ruin the hatch.

Yes, sorry, they are chickens

Here’s what one is looking like

I don't see anything in that egg. Can you point your light at the very top of the fattest end? You will see a clear outline of the air cell and then you can trace the air cell in pencil so people can get a better idea. Can you see any veins in the egg at all from any angle? Try to get a better pic.

I see the air cell and I see the outline of something. I don’t want to handle them any more today so I’ll try again in a few. I definitely see something in my own light. I’m just not sure what it is

Do you know for sure that they are at at least day 15? How are you hatching? I've read it's safe to stop turning after day 14, but I personally stop turning on day 18 and stop handling them on day 18 as well.

I don’t know for sure. I got them via mail and I’m totally new. I’m incubating and manually turning.

Cool. If you have tracking information maybe there's a record of your delivery date so you can make a better guess. It's kinda important to know when the last 3 days of incubation are so you can get your humidity in the right place.
