First of all i want to thank the founders of site for making this a very wonderful place for anyone who wants to get started with chickens. I heard that this community has the most helpful members around so i counted myself in.

See, i have this question that keeps me anxious about adding chickens to my flock. i guess you will understand more if i'll tell you the story.

"a friend of mine owns a flock of 12-15 chickens that roams around freely in their yard. then one day, one by one, their chickens died with no apparent reason. His mother told me that there might be someone in their neighborhood who just vaccinated their chickens(most of the chickens here are for cock fighting, since it is legal here in my country). So in total amazement, i began to question this theory."

So here are my questions:

1. is it really true that vaccinating chickens may harm other chickens in the area?

2. if yes, what are the vaccinations used that causes the same scenario?

Please everyone, i really need your help.

P.S

If anyone can help me with feeding the chickens right, i mean, what to feed to chicks, to growing and adult chickens. stuffs like that. can you email me the link?

I would suggest posting your question in the Injuries and Diseases section of the Forum.

The Learning Center above has lots of good chicken keeping info.

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad to have you aboard. I agree with 1muttsfan. I don't see how vaccinating a chicken in one area could have an effect on chickens in another area. Also, I feed a starter feed 24% for 2-3 months, then switch to a grower feed 18% up until start to lay, then switch to a layer feed. :thumbsup

Thanks for the reply. As my tag says, im still a new egg. Still have to learn from great stuffs in this site.

Thanks for the reply. well, me too, i had a hard time believing that vaccines can harm other chickens. i moved the thread to the one you guys suggested and i hope i can get more answers from other members also.

by the way, i went to our local vet store here and they told me a name of a vaccine that might caused the issue. but i forgot what was it called. LOl.
