A frame chicken coop

Hey everyone

Just wondering what your thaughts on these A frame chicken coops are? They seam small but what about for meat hens? Mabye 4?

We built one and love it. Ours is 6'×8' inside, about 18 inches off the ground. We have 11 standard size and 3 silkies that only use it for roosting at night. They free range or use the 150 sq ft run during the day. Tight quarters at night but they dont seem to mind. If they were penned in it there would be a major problem as far as square footage per bird.

These would be plenty large enough for 4 chickens.

A-frames are cute but tiny. There's not much roosting space, and I think that a shed type coop makes more sense. Best is a Woods coop!
Build bigger than you think you need, as large as you can. In winter, they will be inside a lot unless you have a roofed run too.

For meat birds a covered(rain/shade) A-frame would be fine for the 8 weeks they'd be in there.

How important is roosting? how long till they are super sized?

Meat birds do not roost. I'm not impressed with A frame design b/c there is so much wasted space. The top section appears to have a serious void of ventilation and natural lighting. And the bottom section will provide no protection from rain. That coop also has chicken wire. A coon or weasel would make short work of any birds housed in that coop.

Cornishx birds are ready to eat by eight weeks of age, and will likely start dying of heart failure, or collapse because of joint issues, very soon after that. They can't/ shouldn't roost, because of their failing joints.
Any other normal chicken can and should roost, because it's what they are comfortable doing.

A lot of people just use rectangular flat tractors with a cover on one side for meat birds, similar to this one.

I actually just saw one made out of pvc pipe, that would be pretty easy to put together.
