A friendly hello from White Rose Angel Poultry!
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jenee and I am a mother to 3 children: Eowyn (G), Brayden (B) & Garret (B), and as of this moment, adopted mother of a total of 31 chickens, 12 turkeys and 2 guinea fowl. My chicken flock consists of 10 Plymouth Barred Rock Hens, 3 Olive Egger Hens, 8 Jersey Giant Hens, 7 Jersey Giant Roosters, 2 Silkie Roosters and one Golden Laced Polish Rooster (they live together in a "bachelor pad", separate from the rest of the chickens). My turkey flock consists of 1 Heritage Bourbon Red Hen, 3 Heritage Bronze Hens and 8 Heritage Bronze Toms. My flocks free range during the day on 7 acres, and at night, roost in secured pens. We live very near a forest preserve, so there is always the threat of predators, but to be honest, I think the Jersey Giant Roosters and Heritage Bronze Toms provide enough deterrent that the hawks, falcons, owls and even eagles....don't want to take a gamble. I am joining Backyard Chickens for advice and friendship. Late last night, I set up an incubator with 21 eggs in it...hopefully I'll be successful with hatching them. We also have numerous Koi, 2 dogs - Charlie (Red Doberman) and Maple (Hound Mix), 2 Parakeets and 2 Rabbits - Georgia (Flemish Giant) and Twix (Rex).
