A golden comet is what two birds??

Golden comets are a commercial hybrid. They are produced from birds that are selected for certain characteristics. They are not made by crossing any breeds we would be familiar with. You can not get the breeders that are used to produce the birds, the breeders are closely guarded by the company that produces them.

White Leghorns are normally birchen or extended black at the E locus and can not be used for red sex linked crosses.

You could breed a leghorn that can be used for sex linked crosses but it is easier to use a Rhode Island red over a Delaware hen or over Rhode Island White.

I know golden comet is a term thrown around a lot, but my personal opinion is that golden comets should only refer to red sex links created by a new hamphire rooster over a white rock hen. I think a lot of the hatcheries' redsexlinks use this type of cross, though I would guess the parents are picked for their productive capabilities rather than their conformance to the NH or WR standards.

Thank you for all the good info. i guess we will try out best and see what we get
