a good duck breed for smoking ?

i woul like to raise 2 ducks to have smoked for nexed thanksgiving. does anyone have a good recomendation?

You could try Pekin or Appleyard ducks..
They both get around 10 lbs or so and bread to be a dual purpose breed..

I've never smoked duck. Wouldn't it be hard to roll up in the little papers and keep lit.....

Seriously, though, I've read that Muscovy is very lean, so I'd think a fatter breed would be better to smoke, because they wouldn't dry out as easily. I'm sure somebody on here has tried more than one breed, hopefully they'll see this and chime in.

Pekin would be your best bet for a meat duck.

how old do they need to be by the time you can butcher them, in my case take them to the local buchers?
