This is Mr. Ed. He's only 6mos old, but is already being a great protector of the gals and generous finder of food. Not to mention his macho prowess.

What a guy.

Is he a particular breed? Americauna? Or just a mutt?

He is starting to get green feathers in his tail.

Thanks all.

So if I crossed Mr. Ed, BSL, with a RIR, what happens? Is it a Sex-link too?

Whatever their mixed breeds, they are both great chooks and very social.
The hen, Gladys, greets me and walks around with me when I'm working in the yard. She's a good size girl who's been maturing as of lately, so I'm hoping she decides to start laying soon.

Then I'll know if she's an EEg'r.

Well if you crossed you BSL and RIR you'll just have a cross breed chicken not a sex link.

"Sex-Links are chickens which can be sexed at hatching, usually by color but sometimes by feather development. They are planned crosses, which are hardier and more productive than their parents' respective breeds."

and if Gladys is an EE she may not lay green-blue eggs so you may not still be able to tell what breed she is just by her egg color, she should start laying within 6 months of her birth date, if you know how old she is.

Shook,
I don't know my chicken's ages. They are all adoptees from a local school program. This is my first try at this ...and I'm lovin it. Thanks for all your help.
