Yes, the back yard just got bigger - I'm a NEW newbie! I'm moving to Chesapeake VA from Norfolk, VA just so I can have me some backyard chickens! I have been reading all I can to learn all I can. But still have A LOT of questions - we'll get to them later.
Just wanted to stop by and say "hi" to all and thanks for all the posts you put up...they have been so helpful.

1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? : I have adored chickens for a long time but never had any. That will just not do any longer!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Going day tripin' with five of my great nieces and nephews (they want to pick out their own chickens) tomorrow. If any one is local and has chicks to sell - drop me a line!

(3) What breeds do you have? Who knows what will come home with us. I would like a nice pair of Golden Crested Polish chicks. Also on my list are Orpington hens, Silkies, Mille Fleur rooster, and of course Cochins.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? My need for information has always lead right back to: BYC!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I go stained glass, cake decorating, gardening and sleeping.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I'm wifey to a wonderful man, mommy to a beautiful daughter - age 21, Auntie G. to fifty some nieces and nephews!

What a nice intro! I'm fairly new as well, and find this site invaluable in regards to all things chicken!

(btw, I have cochins and orpingtons so if you do end up with those ones, let me know!)
