Just saw them list two breeds that I want and I was curious to get reviews. also wondering if ordering from new york will be a problem if I'm in Illinois or should I stick to places withing a state or two of me? Anyone have good luck ordering from so far away?

There are a couple of threads on them here already and so far the reviews have not been good.

We have been informed through some of our customers about these postings and feel explaining the truth is appropriate. We were founded in 2005 and we are A&J Farms Domani Ranch, in response to

SunnysideupstateNY: We did have a negative complaint from the BBB because they are a business, not a government agency which consumers can file a report; although the report was false, which we have reports on file on how far this issue had escalated from the customer. Due to the complaint which we will not release details; it included a visit from the Humane Society, The Local Animal Shelter, and New York State Ag and Markets. In which we have letters from each stating that the claims about cleanliness and health conditions of the poultry on farm were found to be unfounded and untrue. As far as unorganized, we purchased this farm a year ago that was totally in disarray, since then we have made great progress with re-building barns, outbuildings, pastures and office space. Things do take time, and we are still improving the farm daily.

On another note with regards to the name changing to increase BBB ranking; our business name still stands. We did not change our business name; we changed our website url and website name due to the reason spelling Domani was difficult for customers as well as the length of the domain.http://www.AJFarmsDomaniRanch.com/ is a very long url compared to http://www.ThePoultryHatchery.com and it’s much easier for people to remember…. As you may notice we rectified the 1 customer issue on the BBB and have satisfied that customers issue with a very positive outcome.
As in the receipt from the customer that posted above, you can see that our business name is printed on there and not ThePoultryHatchery. So where you got this information that we changed our business name is unknown. Consumers assuming is half the battle businesses face.

We have never tested positive for any sicknesses nor have we been sighted for any issues. Our pick up location is our farm. It’s not the hatchery, in which we tell our customers that prior to their arrival. Due to biosecurity issues we cannot allow customers in our hatcheries, this is because of liability and cross contamination issues. We take cleanliness and good animal husbandry very seriously, and raise all our animals the way they should be cared for – HUMANELY. You can find information released from the DOH about handling poultry in which it’s safer to not have many people handling the poultry, or lots of people in and out of brood areas. You will also notice that all other hatcheries have the same practices.

We understand those that want to read each other’s negative and positive experiences; although we think we can call agree that someone is more likely from a business perspective going to say how horrible an experience was when they are unhappy, than write about an excellent experience. That’s just how the cookie crumbles…. On another note; we are not perfect nor do we claim to be; we do what we think is right and in our control IF WE ARE EVEN AWARE. We invite customers to visit our farm, this year we are adding a petting zoo type setting, to view the different breeds we hatch and sell. We also have added a farm store loaded with supplies, feed, books & more. We invite customer input always on all aspects of doing business.
We wouldn’t have even found this post if it was not for satisfied customers bringing it to our attention.

God Bless & We hope this insightful information will help you our willingness & openness to not only clarify but to also address issues.

DayOldChicksNY...

I think the impression about you changing your name may have to do with your site name being different now, so people just assume from there. I was curious about it myself, but then read what you said on your site about it. Your going by a different name on here now may have people scratching their heads too, I don't know.

Anyway, I think it's great what you've stated here. I admit, I was leery too 'cause of what was said. I think your post has addressed a lot of that though. Thank you!

How about the fact that you order chicks from PA when you are supposed to be the NY state Largest Hatchery?
