Hello everyone, I'm LittleFalcon, named after my first Barred Rock chick that my friend gave me. I am pretty new to chickens, i had silkes before but we had issues so now we have started over. I gave away my duck today, a handsome young blue swedish drake named DuckZilla or DZ for short. But in turn i got a beautiful barred rock runt that is just the sweetest bird i have had (other than my eclectus parrot i had when i was younger). I currently have 2 NH Red hens (ones name is Little One) and one white Leghorn hen, I raised all of them from a day old, except my sweet little barred, Little Falcon. I am not a fan of the cheeping that they do but i do love my chickens. I especially love when they have ran out of something and come running up to me to see if I have it for them.
Chickens are not my only animals however. I also breed Boxers (i have a sealed brindle and a fawn of European lines) and I breed rats and mice as well. (Male rats are the best BTW). I also have snakes, which is where my mean, and or defected animals go (including mean or defected chickens). I also have a rough collie named Fenrir after the son of Loki and a cute little Great dane pup named Notti, after the German goddess of the night that is mother of Oden. I have 3 siblings that are annoying as annoying can be as well.
I found BYC because I have had a lot of questions about my littles so I needed some answers and this was the only place that gave pretty straightforward answers. I have been looking at it for about 2 months now and just joined today because there are some questions that I either didn't get a straightforward answer to or no answer at all.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
What happened to your Silkies? Do you humanely euthanize your mean or defected before offering them up to the snakes?

Yes I do humanely euthanize my animals before I cull them, I typically use a gass chamber unless I have a snake that refuses to eat anything but live.
My silkies did not appear to be developing correctly and i did not have the best set up and two of them came down with something and sadly, they passed. One of them was my little blue. We then gave away the last one to one of my grandmother's friends that has a nice chicken set up and other silkies.
