Hi my name is Jo-Anne, and my husband is Roger. We live in northern British Columbia, Canada. We’re really enjoying our little hobby farm. We have about 15 hens now (lost count lol), 2 roosters, and a female Turkey. We have Barred Rocks, Copper Marans, a couple Silkies and looking to expand.
We also have 5 (under a year) goats. 2 Pygmy does, 2 Pygmy/Nigerian Dwarfs does, 1 Alpine/Nubian. We have a Nigerian Dwarf Whether and 2 Nigerian Dwarf cross does ( both does are expecting). This is the first time for us with expecting does. I’m terrified as this part is new to me. We have 3 rescue dogs ( A Min-Pin 13yrs, A black lab 11yrs and an 8 month old Golden Retriever x Border Collie. We have 2 cats and an Indian Ringneck Parrot.
We’re looking forward to meeting other animal lovers, hobby farmer and feathered friends, to share thoughts and experience and to gain knowledge and experience from others.

As a fellow chicken-miniature goat-rescue dog-cat owner (with numerous other critters), let me wish you a big BYC welcome!

My only experience with kidding was few years ago when I bought a Pygmy-fainter cross and her daughter from a farm with no other goats. The owner said they were going to use them as meat goats, but got too fond of Viv and Dora.

I was in total disbelief when I walked out one morning to find Viv with two newborn kids! First, there were no other goats on that farm and no mention of her having been exposed to a buck. Second, she like many pygmies was a little round in the belly, but I had no idea she was pregnant. Here's to hoping your girls deliver as easily!
