Hello everybody,

this year i brooded the first time wiht a incubator.

In the beginning I had 18 eggs
3 were infertil and i sortet them out on day 7 after candeling,
the next candeling was on the 14 day and I had to sort out 1 egg (bloodring).

On day 18 I candeled again and another egg had to go, then the eggs went into lockdown.

Now the thrilling part began. I waited and waited.... and nothing happend.

Day 21, only one egg moves sligthly
Day 22 another egg moves, and one has a piep. 3 chicks hatched on that day
Day 23 another egg has a piep.

So give your chickens a little more time eventually they will hatch soon.

My manual which I got from the man where I bought my incubator says. "Wait until day 24" before giving up hope. Because my first chick hatched on day 22 I will give them time until day 25.

So I am waiting again

Temperatur: 37,8 °C
Huminity: 55-60 % until day 18, then 65-70 %

There is one tipp inside the manual. You should use destilled water, because the shells of the egg will not get so hard, so it's easier for the chicks to hatch. Maybe this could be helpful.

Greetings
Sandra

I don't see any errors. You are good.

I will add some photos. One of a dead chick it's not ugly but if you don't want to see it don't scroll down

A little Update. As mentioned above I waited 2 days and then cracked the remaining eggs. 5 fully grown chicks with not absorbed yolk died in the egg.

I asked the man where I bought my incubator what could have gone wrong. He asked with what temperature I breeded. 37,8° C (checked with 3 different thermometers) he also had this problem when he breeded with that temp and recommended to adjuste it to 38,00-38,20 he never had this problems again.

The next batch off eggs where breeded with 38,1° C and 5 chicks hatched out of 7 eggs. One was a bit early on day 19 the other 4 hatched on day 21. In the future I will use 38,1 °C.

Our new chicks:
