Austrian Chickens
Songster
Hello everybody,
this year i brooded the first time wiht a incubator.
In the beginning I had 18 eggs
3 were infertil and i sortet them out on day 7 after candeling,
the next candeling was on the 14 day and I had to sort out 1 egg (bloodring).
On day 18 I candeled again and another egg had to go, then the eggs went into lockdown.
Now the thrilling part began. I waited and waited.... and nothing happend.
Day 21, only one egg moves sligthly
Day 22 another egg moves, and one has a piep. 3 chicks hatched on that day
Day 23 another egg has a piep.
So give your chickens a little more time eventually they will hatch soon.
My manual which I got from the man where I bought my incubator says. "Wait until day 24" before giving up hope. Because my first chick hatched on day 22 I will give them time until day 25.
So I am waiting again
Temperatur: 37,8 °C
Huminity: 55-60 % until day 18, then 65-70 %
There is one tipp inside the manual. You should use destilled water, because the shells of the egg will not get so hard, so it's easier for the chicks to hatch. Maybe this could be helpful.
Greetings
Sandra
