As mentioned, the poop board is under the roost. The whole idea is to make cleaning easier. My poop board is a 6x2 1/2 sheet of OSB. It has sides made from 1x4's. The bottom of mine is lined with some left over aluminum flasing, but it can be painted (I dont think paint does the job well) or lined with some type of non-absorbent material (Linoleum, plastic, whatever will keep the wood dry) I pour about 2-3 bags of Sweet PDZ on top of that lining, the little sides keep it from running off the board. The roost is built above the poop board so when they get on the roost and poop, it lands on the board, the PDZ absorbs mositure and odor. I use a little scoop once a day to clean out the poop. I refill the PDZ as needed, maybe a bag a month. PDZ is about $9 from Tractor Supply, I buy several bags and always have some on hand. If you want, do a search under the coop tab here on BYC, I posted pictures of mine that shows it clearly. I tagged it "Ease of cleaning" or something similar. Keeping a clean coop can take alot of time and I think diminishes the joy and pleasure of having chickens, so I'm all about figuring out ways to make it as managable as possible. It might take me 5 mins a day to scoop the poop board, I keep my PDZ thick/deep enough that the bottom of the poop board doesn't show, probably 3-4" deep and I havent ever had to totally empty it to clean the bottom. Good Luck!
