My Coop
Hello. I know it's random and crazy, but I'd like to rant about the time I almost got hit by a tree in a storm.
So it's about to start raining real hard and storm like crazy.
I've just been driven home by my mom and she says, "Go put the chickens away! I don't want them getting rained on." (These are my chickens btw) So I agree, and run out of the car up the from stairs to go put them away.
I get into the coop and herd the 3 up the stairs and close all the doors. Then, just as I close the last one, the wind gets really bad. Like, "I am about to kick some serious feathers with this wind right now" bad.
I walk out of the coop and before I get 2 feet away, something snaps.
Like. Like snaps. This painfully loud noise at the time. It's amazing how I kept moving after I heard that. It didn't last long though.
At about 2 feet away from the coop, it falls apart.
Not just everything. Not just my head. Not just my anxiety.

A tree.

An entire fricking tree. And it doesn't fall over there. Or over there. No, it falls directly towards my house and right in front of me.
I'm talking about 8 feet away from me. An entire tree. An entire large tree. 8 feet away.

And, believe it or not, I am panicking the ever loving tail feathers out of my head and I start crying.
Not break down crying. Not sad light tears. Not even bawling sad tears. Or happy tears, for that matter. No, I'm fricking panic crying. Like, I didn't even know that was a thing until then.
And my first thought is, "Oh my god, the chickens!!!" And it's so weird that I did that. I was two feet away from the coop and they were fine and didn't even know it was happening. But I rushed to check on them.
At this point it's full on raining and I am going to break down from stress.
So I check on the babies and make sure that they are fine. And they are clucking around like normal.

I run down to the car and jump in as I'm panic crying and my mom is like, "What??? Are the chickens ok? (She thought I was crying over the chickens) Are you ok? What's wrong?"
And I'm just in the back seat gasping for any air I can hold on to and saying that I almost got hit by a tree. She's obviously freaking out, and then my brother, who was getting his baseball stuff, comes out and says, "What was that giant crack?" My mom explains and he's like, "Oh." His baseball got cancelled so we stayed inside and I showed my mom through the super hard rain and the window that there was in fact a tree there.

Sorry for taking up your time with my stupid and very long and unnecessary story about a tree. It just came back and I thought about how crazy it was.

Oh yeah, just going to add that all of this happened in a span of less than 5 minutes. So yeah, pretty crazy. 😬😬😬 Also, sorry for all the details! This could have been so much shorter.
My poor grandson at 4 years old witnessed a wind so strong it pulled all the umbrellas out of the tables at the restaurant they were at and blew them 200 feet into a lake. He is 6 now but still afraid every time it gets windy here and it happens often. 😥. It breaks my heart watching his fear. I understand your fear completely.

I swear I had a picture for this??? I'll find it somewhere and see if I can put it on. In the meanwhile, have any of you guys had anything like this happen to you?
I found it!!! I was pretty far away from the coop in the picture, and all of those leaves are the tree.

I had almost the same experience, except it was “only” a very large branch about 6” in front of me, not the whole damn tree! I also ran back to check the chickens while the rest of said tree was bent at an unnatural angle.
Note to Self: Chickens are on their own the next time a freak storm comes through…
