SO MY WIRELESS ROUTER DECIDED TO GO BELLY UP SO I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT BYC FOR A WEEK, IN THAT TIME A LOT HAS HAPPENED.

FIRST OFF I FINALLY GOT SOME CALIFORNIA QUAIL, A TRIO, OFF A GUY FROM CRAIGSLIST, FOR 35 DOLLARS.... AFTER NEARLY SIX MONTHS OF LOOKING, I AM STILL LOOKING FOR MORE (FOR MY FATHER WHO HAS WANTED THEM FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS NOW BUT NEVER FELT HE HAD THE KNOW HOW/ PROPER HOUSING FOR THEM), I AM STILL SEARCHING FOR GAMBLES AS WELL BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY...

THE COTURNIX ARE FEATHERING OUT NICELEY, THEY ARE AT 2 WEEKS OLD NOW, THEY ARE QUITE THE CHARACTERS, I MOVED THEM INTO THE 55 GALLON TANK WHILE THEY GROW, ALL GETTING ALONG WELL AND SEEMINGLY HEALTHY...

THE BOBS ARE JUST NOW STARTING TO FEATHER, AND CALL, AT A WEEK OLD THEY ARE ALL GROWING STRONG WHICH IS GOOD....

UPGRADED FROM PLASTIC PRODUCE CONTAINERS TO THE MASON JAR FEED AND WATER ATTACHMENTS, THEY ARE WORKING OUT NICE ONLY HAVE TO FILL THEM ONCE A DAY NOW INSTEAD OF 4 TIMES.

THE BUTTONS ARE BORING NOW ONCE YOU EXPERIENCE REAL QUAIL THEY JUST DONT CUT IT BUT STILL ENJOY EM A LITTLE.

THATS ABOUT ALL HERE MAY HAVE SOME BLUE SCALE AND MOUNTAINS LINED UP IN THE LATER MONTHS NOT IN A HURRY, WE WILL SEE....

HERE ARE SOME PICS.

Noticed you were kinda mum for awhile... Good lookin birds, is that a turtle rock the birds are standin on?

Nice looking birds and set up. I copied your tank! I did it for the pair of Buttons I have. I removed the lonely spare, so she waits for a mate...

Agree with you in that once you get seriously into the larger quail the buttons sort of take a back ground. Although I do have two pet stores here interested after shopping there for supplies...They googled and now are "poking" for availablity when I go in for more supplies.

Nice work buddy. You have really made progress.

That is a pretty cool looking rock, and the quail look like they're havin' a good time decoratin' it with a little bit of butt paint. Artistic little devils..

What is it with computers this month. I've been having trouble too. Gotta get off BYC and get this thing in for repair Monday, but I am facing withdrawals without BYC. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

That looks like what we call turtle rocks. There found in rivers around here. They are actually prehistoric petrified turtles. The shell plate sections can still be seen and the good ones are still shaped like a turtle without legs. Some bring good money, some are good flower bed rocks. Your birds seem to like your rock no matter what it is....
