Hi everyone,
I live on Long Island, NY and I began to incubate eggs that my duck was laying and 6 of my 8 eggs hatched. After a week and a half I gave away all 6 ducks to their new homes that I had found. However now my duck has hatched her own babies, out of the 12 eggs she was laying on 10 have hatched! I only expected about 6! But the problem is I can not find homes for them and I cannot keep all of these ducks! I have called many different places such as the ecology center and a local farm. I was thinking about releasing them into the wild, but i heard that was illegal and i wouldnt want to put these babies in any kind of danger! Does anyone have any suggestions??!! They are getting older and bigger and im getting desperate, I am even considering making flyers!

What kind of ducks?......I have a friend that lives in kings park area. Are you any wheres near there? He's coming up to visit me next week. I'm sure he'd pick them up for me. I'm about 2 hours north of the city, and have plenty of room for them. Leave me an email. Thanks,Chris

Hi livinitup, and welcome to BYC.

I second the question what kind of ducks are they. If you're not sure, make a thread about it in the ducks subforum, and I'm sure somebody will know.

Then advertise them! Make a thread about it here in the Buy-Sell-Trade section. Also advertise them on your local Craigslist. Take pictures and post them in your ads. Flyers aren't a bad idea, either. Although I'd try the other things first.

Good luck.

Edit: We were typing at the same time PeepsInc. I hope you are able to give these little duckies a new home!

The male is a pekin duck and the female is a blue swedish duck, most of the babies seem to take on the females traits. 6 of the babies look exactly as she did when she was a baby and the others are yellow and very light gray (they seem to take on more of the males traits). I had to take them away from the mother though, because the pekin duck was attacking them... They all seem completely fine with it though and all the babies and the mother is eating and drinking fine.
I live about 20 minutes away from Kings Park. I live in East Islip, which is on the South Shore. I believe Kings Park is more North?
