I was at the sea shore this week and I have found some inner skeletons of Squid. This inner skeleton is almost 100% Calcium and it is wonderful source for pet birds, and chickens! It is free of charge and very healthy for them. The bonus in this source is that it contains also some Iodine residues, that are much needed for the healthy of the chicken Thyroid function! I think that you can fined them for free of charge at your fish venders!

That's what cuttlebones are. They are sold in pet stores as a calcium source for for parakeets and the like.

I crushes the skeleton with a pestle and mortar, and put the mixture into a separate dish, Sometimes I mix with crushed seashells, and it is in the coop for the chicken 24/7.
