Hi there all. I am finally taking the plunge from lurker to joiner.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Total newbie, and have probably made every newbie mistake out there

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Three as of this morning, having sent the newly discovered roo to a friend's petting zoo

(3) What breeds do you have?
Mutts of some variety

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I've known about it for so long, I don't remember!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
The locavore movement, gardening

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well, I'll come out of the closet here and say I am a veterinarian. Don't know much about chickens though as I do a rather different kind of veterinary medicine. But I am very interested in public health and chickens play a large part of that. I am in the Army Reserves as part of VETCOM.

I have a wonderful husband, we've been married 4 1/2 years. 2 awesome boys, 2 1/2 and 16m and one more kid on the way. When we get a bigger house, I finish some further training, and my hubby can stay home full time, we hope to be foster parents.

Welcome from an imp in Washington

Joining is so much better than lurking. You will have to let us know what VETCOM is.

What part of Jersey are you from? I have family living there.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I am in Monmouth County, the northernmost of the Shore Counties, but I am way inland.

And VETCOM is the lovely group of veterinarians (short for Veterinary Command) that watches over the working dogs and food supply for Uncle Sam's Army
