when I got home from hospital today my granddaughter came running in to tell me one of the eggs was hatching. It took the little chick awhile but its out. all the other eggs haven't started yet. I tried to get her to move off the eggs for a minute. I wont try that again. I have included some pics of mamma and baby.

Are one little chick is doing good so far. No other eggs have hatched. I am going to figure out something to candle the other eggs to see if they are viable. Its been a week now with no more hatching. she has been on them taking care of the the baby and the eggs. It is so cute the baby gets on mamma`s back and rides. She wants to bring it down out of the coop with the rest of the flock but the baby is afraid of the ramp. Im not sure what to do. She is very protective of the chick. Should I let her figure out how to get it down the ramp or help her? I would hate of the chick to fall. But I also don't want her to not want to have anything to do with it if I handle it. Geez I wish I was experienced with this. If I end up taking the eggs out from under her if they are not viable will she still try to lay more to sit on? Any help would be so gratefully appreciated.

Once she goes into mama mode she'll leave the unhatched eggs, as far as she is concerned she has done her part she sat and she hatched .
in my experience so far I have taken babies inside for a few days and reunited with mom and she still took care of them, And the other chicks I mixed in which was why I took them in the first place. Of course I am not saying take them away that long but holding for a moment or two should be fine. At night is best when mama is sleepy and calmer.
