Hello, I was wondering if I need a permit to keep oheasants in ohio. The person I got them never mentioned anything about them. I was talking with someone and they said I needed one. So do I?

I would contact your local Fish and Game Department. They can let you know the specific laws regarding owning native or non-native species.

You do not need a permit to keep the ornamentals(Goldens,Amherst,Silvers etc)but you do need a permit to keep Ringnecks.

I contacted our local game warden. It was many years ago,as Enjaytoo stated,I would call your local Fish and Wildlife Department to make sure.

This is always the best move here.... because its the local fish and game dept that will be issueing your citation or taking you into custody for any infractions due to misinformation or outdated information

Yes ,you need a permit for ringnecks, I keep one ,cost 40.00 per year ,if you sell eggs or birds. You must have the person permit # where you got your birds or egg.

The one permit is good for all gamebirds and game animals.
