Isn't it pretty?

My in-town flock had a bird who regularly laid pixelated eggs. That was a Black Langshan.

I have Black Langshan hen in my Ideal Dozen, who are just now 21 weeks, but I wouldn't expect her to be laying quite yet since they're generally late developers.

I have a lot of possible new layers so I don't know whose egg it is. I hope it's not one of the ones I have up for sale, but I don't have a good way to figure out who is laying what so -- having chosen my keepers based on growth rate and conformation -- I'll just have to take my chances.

Hopefully it came from a keeper bird. If it did and she lays them consistently, I will definitely select them for hatching next spring.
You can mark their vents with food coloring, or old lipstick to see who is laying that particular egg?
