here it is (well, what fit in the screen shot), product of one day's work. There's a lot I'd like to add to it, and some changes ("as fed") I'd like to make to some of the calculations, but its an effective crude tool.

Not really useful as a PDF, if you can't put numbers into it, and have it spit out answers....

Here it is, packaged as a .ZIP - PLEASE I again emphasize my belief that there is greater value in building one of these for yourself, than merely using a thing built by others, whose sources (Feedipedia.org mostly), assumptions, and limitations are likely unknown to you. But to the extent this is a suseful framework for seeing what to do - or not - I invite you to use it thusly.

Fair warning, I just slapped the cost calculator portion in, didn't test it, and have never used it. I am certain there are some errors in the cut and pastes, no few circular references, and some more elegant formulas would (eventually) have been used throughout. I make no assurance guarantees, or representations whatsoever regarding that portion of the spreadsheet, except that its probably "broke".

says "Dietary fat levels above 9% decrease Ca retention and bone calcification. This is thought to be due to the formation of Ca and Mg soaps, which are not absorbed through the gut and lead to deficiencies of these minerals."
And that there are ways to counter the effect for fat levels approaching 9% but it gets complicated. (specific forms of Vit D but that is influenced by the amount and ratio of Ca and K, Vit C and A, the type of light the chickens are under, and other things.

Anyway, fatty liver is not the only result of too much fat in the diet.

Also, the problems CornishX broilers tend to have with their legs is not, or at least not only, protein - Vit D makes a lot of difference. And again, how much is needed depends on several other things.

ugh. I wanted a similar page for vitamins. I didn't know I had only a limited number of pages before I have to register to see the pages. I would have gone down fewer rabbit trails, or at least tried to go down fewer unrelated pages.
