A Question About Egg Laying

I was watching my mallard Drake and hen in the pool today and the mallard mated with her, but i thought they were seasonal egg layers or is this normal?? Is she going to lay eggs soon??

i guess the big question is - how old is she???

um she is 6-8 months i believe, but arent mallards seasonal layers??

I checked Storey's for you - it doesn't mention specifics. Drakes will cover and mate with ducks out of mating season, though. My Rouen drake is a real lover, he's covered most of our ten ducks at one point or another but they are too young to lay fertilized eggs at this point.
