So i have three midget whites, 2 hens and a tom. When i got thrm the lady I bought them from said they were 4 months old. Now, the tom hasnt posed for the ladies, nor does he have much of a wattle yet.

I was reading that heritage turkey are about ready for butcher at 28 weeks, and since i bought them, its been about a month. These are super skinny birds still, really long legs. So my question is, do midget whites just take a really, really long time to plump up? Ive heard they are supposed to havr a decent breast, but these guys are thin as rails.

Also, would it be possible to breed them to a bbw in the hopes of getting more meat out of these but the fairly small size overall?

Any ideas?

BBW take about 6 months to butcher, heritage take about 8 months. At four months my narragasett are just now reaching their full height, but have yet to begun to fill out. I don't think you can cross BBW with your current breed because neither the male or the female of BBW have much luck with natural breeding.
