... but the "no work" etc still stands until she got permits right. Then there is voting... I think he can vote in Federal elections but not provincial or maybe vice verse... for the first 10 years. Makes sense too otherwise all the refugees would vote in whomever would give them the most benefits I suppose.

ETA... getting off topic and into a dangerous area!

Hi All

I am from Ontario, Canada and have really enjoyed reading everyone's opinions. Just found this thread and felt that I had to add my 2 cents. Getting back to the original query about universal health care, IMO it has been amazing. Most definately there is room for improvement, however, not once have I ever hesitated to take the kids to the hospital for fear of a large bill. Sure you have to wait sometimes 2 or 3 months for a specialist, but it's free. I've had MRI's, bone density scans, x-rays ect.... all free of charge in a timely manner for nothing more serious that a pulled ligament. Having a child that is asthmatic and has been hospitalized twice for pnuemonia, universal health covereage has saved us literally thousands in medical treatment not to mention the peace of mind it gives driving to the hospital at 3 am with a child that's turning blue and you can be certain to receive top medical treatment as soon as you get there.
Eye exams aren't covered for adults or those out of school but are free for kids up to 18 years of age and many people ( not all) are lucky to have the rest covered by work.

I understand there will allways be people that have had bad experiences and I can only imagine the grief and hardship they have had to endure, however, for most universal health coverage works very well. We have to realize some people do abuse the system which mucks it up for those truly in need of care. Hopefully, things will get better with wait times in ER's, Dr shortages and wait lists to see specialists.

I could go on, but I think you get my point.

Thanks for asking

Can I get an AMEN. Read a story over the weekend about a group who've been knocking on doors, campaigning, and the first words out of their mouths are "I'm an illegal"... sounds like a guilty plea to me... admissible in a court of law... citizen's arrest. Something. Sheesh. And who would listen? If someone came up and said "I'm a tax evader please vote for this guy because he keeps tax evaders from being prosecuted" there's no way in hades I'd vote for the guy. Nuts it's just nuts.
