A rainbow of eggs to hatch in July!

Holy crap! 2 more chicks are hatching! That brings the total to 7 out of 9 eggs! Woooo hooo! I can't believe so many made it! I am glad I put in some small rescue holes in this morning to give the weakened chicks a fighting chance! It worked! It's buying them the time to recover and continue on with the hatch! I just can't believe how resilient they are! I am blown away. And BOTH cracked eggs made it! The incubator has gotten a bit dirty and will need a good sterilizing but this cheap little bator has done me well!

Gritt has been deployed! Those chicks are having the time of their lives! I just popped number 4 in the brooder and put in the "wool hen" (my old fleece Jacket made into a nest/cave) in and the three already in there are still at it! Honestly I am really happy. After the hard start all that food and running around will help them get strong. I wonder how long before the new guy joins in? Now I am just waiting for number 5 to fluff up and the other 2 eggs to finish hatching! I could never have managed all these emergencies and had such a good hatch without you guys here on BYC. Thanks to all the help I have gotten I was able to stay calm and not do anything drastic while still managing the situations. I have learned so much from all of you and I am sure I will continue to do so.

Congratulations! Quick note on the wool hen, make sure you don't have loose threads. Larger strips should be fine but the chicks can get tangled up and strangle themselves on thread.
