so I have a couple of plum trees on my property where the chicken can get to me are plum seeds bad fOr them

I've never seen anywhere that chickens can't eat plums but then again I've never seen that they can either. And chickens don't eat pits usually.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Chickens generally seem to leave the pits alone even with plums that come off of trees, just pick the meat off of the pits, the seeds inside are poisonous so I wouldn't want them eating them if I could avoid it (would not feed them to the birds).

IMO if any doubt then try to avoid it. Many things listed as poisonous or toxic are dose dependent. But why take the risk if you can avoid it. It is said that confined chickens will eat all we offer, and free range are more selective, but there are folks who report loss of free rangers to bad selections.

I would try to avoid plum seeds, too. You wouldn't want to accidentally poison your birds.
