I have a small fenced yard with 5 adult hens, and 5 chicks in an enclosed former chicken tractor. The hens and chicks are separated (the chicks spent their first night out there last night and did fine). The hens are usually allowed access to the yard 24/7 but now that the chicks are being housed in the front part of the tractor (a mini chicken run basically), I locked them up in their coop last night. I have had a previous issue with seeing rodent droppings in the chicken coop when I was leaving their chicken door open 24/7 and had their automatic feeder in their coop. I removed their feeder, and now feed them first thing in the morning. I hadn't seen any evidence of rodents since I removed the feeder, until last night. I went to lock up the hens, and saw the rat. So, I am now looking for an aggressive and EFFECTIVE rat trap, preferably a kill trap. I am open to poisons since my animals are locked up at night (rabbits are in raised hutches). What works quickly? Thanks!
