A real newbie

I just started keeping chickens this spring (newly retired project). I have 14 birds. 4 ameraucanas, 2 welsummers, 2 cuckoo marans and 6 Banthams(2 silkies 2 Wyandottes and 2 buff Orpingtons. We live on a small 10 acre farm ( newly purchased) in Prince Edward County Ontario

It sounds like you have a nice farm and a nice flock. We have standard and bantam birds mixed together and we have 10 acres as well.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a nice mix of breeds. I love the chocolate eggs of the Welsummers and Marans. In my personal opinion they are the prettiest eggs in the chicken world. Thank you all for the lovely welcome. So far all my chickens seem to be doing well. They're about 13 weeks old. Just have to figure out my excess rooster situation. I've recrived some helpful info so far.

I finally gave away three of my four roosters. I put an ad on kijiji. I kept the Silkie rooster as I was told they're a pretty easy going rooster. So far he hasn't bothered the "big girls" at all. The flock seems a little lost right now without the others but I guess that will soon pass. Now we just have to wait for eggs.
