A reason not to hatch this time of year!

I have decided a reason not to hatch eggs this time of year is feed consumption!! The chicks I have hatched in the last 6 weeks or so are eating waaaaay more than warmer weather chicks.

I know-they all eat lots more in winter!

I should have thought about it...my hens and ducks eat way more in the winter than in warm weather........Those cute little fuzzy butts blinded me from thinking down the road I guess. Plus it's been a long time since I've had this many at one time and never at this time of year!! The end of the month most of the little roos will be going to the local poultry auction, so that will help. I still can't wait till the end of february when I start in hatching again!!!
