Okay, so I have a banty roo named Little Guy (see pic below)and he is the smallest of my roos who are all housed in with the hens until we get the tractor all built. I was watching farm TV over by the coop a couple of days ago, in the morning while getting our seedlings all moved around.
I looked up because I heard one of the males start making this really weird burbling sound and then proceeded to forget to thin and move seedlings for over an hour.
Little Guy would hop into a nest and snuggle down in it, all the while making this weird burbling sound and then hop out of the nest and go over to a hen and doing the one wing down dance to move them to the nest. Most of the time she let out a loud 'argument' sound which is like a long but quick throat gargle, and then would hop into the nest, snuggle down and promptly lay an egg.
I watched him do this with every single one of the hens, though not all of them laid eggs. They all went into the nest though, because if they turned away, LG would just herd them back to it.

Now, I have 8 banty males housed with 9 banty hens, but the other roos don't do this (and don't quibble with him over pushing the girls around, though he is in the middle on the pecking order). Over the past three days, it has been the same thing. I just wanted to tell this and see if anyone else has a 'mother hen' rooster. I thought it is just too cute!!

Anyway, here is a picture of Little Guy, also called LG...
