A rooster picked me up at the store

Oh, not at all. They can bond with you, male or female. And once he gets used to the couch....well you had better make a spot for him there from now on!!!

Enjoy your boy! :-)

Thank you TwoCrows! I'm leaning towards a house pet for him. I don't think my dogs would accept him. Now I need to name him. My husband thinks I have lost all my marbles.

LOL....Chickens make wonderful pets. Check out that link I left to the House Chickens thread. LOTS of members here on BYC keep them indoors. And chickens can be so affectionate. All my birds, although kept outside in the coop, are lap sitters. They fight over who gets to sit closest to mommy! I have a few that love to have their heads and around their eyes rubbed with my finger. They just sit there and close their eyes and enjoy a nice head massage.

Oh, and yeah...my hubby KNOWS I have lost my mind as well. Ha!

TwoCrows, is it safe to let him out back to wander for a little while or should I wait until he's a bit more acclimated? I don't want to have to chase him around the neighborhood if he hops the fence.

If he's already identified you as his friend and trusts you Id say go ahead as long as your out there with him. Make sure you carry some strawberries or other treats incase he ventures too far you can lure him back

Awesome! Thank you. I have plenty of strawberries. Should i cut them up?
