My personal opinion is that I think that pet stores should no longer carry puppies or kittens. That would at least cut down on the impulse buying of these animals. That way, people would actually have to go out of their way to go to a breeder rather than seeing a cute puppy at the mall and buying it for son or daughter. Granted, it wouldn't solve ALL problems, but it would make a difference.

I adopted an elderly, emaciated Great Dane from our pound who had been a former puppy mill producer. I only had her a year or so when she developed cancer and I put her down. I wish I could do more for more animals, but I at least made sure her last year of life was a good one. My mom adopted 2 golden retrievers from a rescue who had been taken in because the owner's boyfriend didn't like them. It's amazing why people get rid of their dogs sometimes.

I know!!! One of my brother's old class mates took them to the pound because there grandma was visiting for a few days and she didn't like dogs..... Just sad......
