Bonus points to whoever gets the play on words on the title 😉

This story begins with six Americaunas and six ISA browns. They were all hatched sometime in March and April 2020 and came to live with their new family just days later. They grew up in a homemade brooder that kept them warm and safe in the garage. When they were big enough and the weather was warm enough they went to live in a homemade coop that their parents built for them. They liked it there and continue to live in harmony with one another to this day.

Just a few weeks ago they started laying their first eggs. Lovely blue and brown eggs with rich golden yokes that their human family enjoys immensely. There have been a couple new things that their parents knew nothing about but they found a place to ask questions and gather information. They are usually reassured and leave with more knowledge so they can take better care of their chicken flock. Soft shelled eggs: no problem, add oyster-shell grit. Weird egg blob: probably a glitch in the offending chickens egg laying matrix.

Now the chicken parents have some new and interesting troubles-

First: They discovered that some of these lovely well behaved girls were sneaking off into the woods to lay their eggs in weeds and brush so they could now be found... the parents found them anyway and are trying to redirect them to their lovely nesting boxes which are nice and dry and dark.

Secondly: This morning when one of the parents came to release the chickens for their morning romp around the yard. She discovered FOUR eggs inside the coop (not in the nesting boxes). It is assumed by the parent that these we laid while the chickens were roosting. However, what is most confusing is that all were somewhat soft and all broken.

I hope you have enjoyed this story and welcome all of your thoughts and ideas. 😁

Initially we had... oddly enough, plastic Easter eggs in the nesting boxes... perhaps they shall return 🤔

These darn... I mean, amazing and wonderful chickens laid over a dozen eggs in the abyss before we discovered them. 🤦‍♀️
