Hi, this may sound like a silly question, but from something I read and my brief experience it seems a roosters comb is always straight and upright. Is this always the case? or does it differ depending on the breed? My primary rooster does indeed have an upright comb, but I've noticed with my girls some have upright and others have 'squshy splayed' looking (I am legally blind) combs. I wish to understand.

Yes, male combs should be upright, although they can rarely flop to one side. This trait is considered "undesirable" in most standards. With straight-combed breeds especially, female combs might flop to one side. It is most common in breeds with large combs, such as most Mediterranean breeds

Thank you.
