A week ago I found a single mite in my chicken coop, on (or rather in) an egg that had pipped and then expired. It was a tiny black dot that slowly crawled. I checked all of my chickens, but found no other mites. I dusted everyone with Poultry Dust just in case.

It has been a week. I've checked the chickens both during the day and at night. I also checked the cracks and crevices around the coop. Not a mite in sight. Should I redust? Should I break down everything in my coop and scrub it down?

I want to sell 3 of my hens. When can I sell them without worrying that I'm giving someone an infestation?

For what it's worth, with the information you've given me, I'd buy your hens. I'd follow standard quarantine procedure and keep a close eye out for mites, but I'd still buy them.
