Hi all! I am a newbie chicken owner with six pullets. I set up a shed-type coop with an attached small (6 x 8') "inner compound" run and surrounded the whole set-up with electric poultry netting from Premier 1. I was hoping it would work but have not witnessed it in action. This morning though, a big black Lab appeared, circled around, nosed the fence, and was still running at the far horizon a quarter mile away. Priceless!

Love it! The dog learns a powerful lesson and didn't have to die as would have been advocated by a lot of folks on this site. We use electric fence on top of woven wire around our 5 acre horse pasture, and our chickens have been well protected even with lots of foxes and coyotes in the area - hawks are a different issue, but haven't been a big problem for us. Good going.

When the fence is on, our lab won't go within 20 feet of it! But the Pomeranian just walks right through. At least he used to, the chickens got him cornered once, and not the Pom won't go near the chickens either!
