Don't maternal millies make the lovliest noises? They have such unique voices, anyway, but when they coo and chortle to babies I just melt!!

Serrin, d'Uccles are by far the sweetest tempered hens you'll ever meet. You should sneak one in and just pretne d she's a runt. She'd win your hubby over to the 'banty side'!

As for the coop... LMAO The land is pretty... it's good to be in the country.... but the coop is a shed kit that we are using as a coop until I can get my coops finished. We had to wait for Ed to knock over his old barn so we could salvage the wood for the coops. He JUST did that... so now I need to get it sorted, denailed and ripped down to size so I can build my country chook coop.... LOL Right now it's just an ugly chicken yard

Though someday I hope to have something stylish and artsy

I love Gary ! I am falling in love with silkie crosses! Silkies are too small for me and don't lay big enough eggs but I love them crossed on standards. They are so sweet. I have a new Mommy hen (silkie x cochin) that is letting me help her with her three kids. It is really cute.

Oooh!! What a lovely momma!! Do you happen to know if these come in a full sized version? I'd love to have some girls that look like that, but I made a promise to my husband, no banties. (bad childhood experience for him with banties

If anyone has some recommendations for full sized versions of Guitartists little momma hen there, I'd surely like to hear about them. Maybe something in an EE?

But seriously, not all bantams are holy terrors... just specific breeds have given them a bad name over the years. All the d'Uccles I have ever met were absolute sweethearts.
